| ORIGIN/HABITAT: El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico. Lycaste skinneri is found at 5000-7000 ft. (1524 -2134 m) in the province of Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. This is a region of cool, humid mountain cloudforests where Lycaste skinneri grows in the forks of trees, or on large, moss-draped tree branches. It is also found in similar habitats in the state of Chiapas, Mexico, in the Dept. of Santa Barbara, Honduras, and on Volcan Chingo near Chalchuapa, El Salvador. -- Source: Charles Baker |
