About OrchidWiz, LLC

OrchidWiz, LLC. is a software company based in Louisville, Colorado.  We develop computer programs for the orchid-growing community.  Our first software title, OrchidWiz Encyclopedia, arose out of the need for an easy and pictorial way to look up species and hybrid data.  The primary goal was to develop an intuitive and comprehensive orchid-research program that every orchid grower could use.  In total, we spent more than 10,000 hours creating the product.

Initially released November 2005, and marketed primarily by word of mouth, OrchidWiz Encyclopedia generated sales surpassing even our most optimistic expectations.  No other orchid software title has had as fast an adoption rate.  As of this writing OrchidWiz is used by thousands of orchid aficionados in every US State and 61 countries worldwide.

Hobbyists represent by far the largest section of the user base.  In addition, OrchidWiz Encyclopedia is now used in the daily operations of more than 250 orchid nurseries and other professional organizations including the following:

OrchidWiz Encyclopedia enjoys the support of over 300 volunteers who are helping us make the product even better.  Volunteers have contributed over 200,000 digital photographs; over 300,000 image source references; light and temperature recommendations; and thousands of pronunciation tips for species and genera.  Volunteers also suggest new features and help ensure database accuracy. We express our deepest appreciation to them, without whom the product would be a lot poorer.
